Misha - the mascot
Tn November 1979 Soviet Russia issued a stamp
showing Misha with a portrait of Santa Claus
and next to him an airmail envelope. In the background was a New Year Tree shining in the
rays of the Olympic colours. The stamp was printed in sheets of 6x6 and in a limited
number of 4x4 sheets. A congratulation card was also issued with a fairy-tail motif. It
depicted some of the geroes from Russian fairy tales about to start a ski race against a
background of snow-covered fir trees. Standing with them is Misha, the Olympic
bear - official symbol of 1980 Olympic Games
